If sampling is something that you like, you've got to read about them. They just took it to a new world with their own stuff and I guess it started specifically with the Beastie album Paul's Boutique. Also from what I've learned, they were part of hip-hop being brought to the west
Check out the entire Fight Club soundtrack. You can hear a different application of a similar approach with the sampling and looping, cutting and pasting. There are great interviews with them on youtube, and print interviews where they talk specifically about recording with Beck and how that process evolved.

I prefer the Beck albums with the Dust Brothers production. The drums are almost too nice. The live feel, but sampled loop thing is something I love.
