1.Prevent them from getting more scared---take them for a walk or play with them. Having them more happy and a little tired will help them not get as tired.
2.During- turn the tv up a little to make the noise a little less and try giving them a bone at the time.
3.I'd try comfort before I would try medicine. Dogs are going to get scared by loud noises no matter how many times it happens. Just pet the dog and show them you love them and usually soon after the fireworks are over they should be ok. Sometimes gives them a treat or two to get their mind on something else with help. Just like humans need to stay busy not to think about their problems so do animals. Even try playing with the dog. Anything to get their mind on good things.

Well, you can try giving the dog a benadryl, which is what we do with our dogs, but if you ask a veterinarian, you can usually get something to calm them, or better advice. The only other way is to keep them close to you, like at your bedside or something.
