Table salt is sodium chloride or NaCl.

What we commonly call sugar is chemically known as sucrose which is comprised of a molecule of glucose connected via a glycosidic bond to a molecule of fructose. The sucrose chemical composition is C12 H22 O11 (the numbers should be subscripted). For a full explanation and a graphic representation of this compound's see http://web1.caryacademy.org/chemistry/rushin/StudentProjects/CompoundWebSites/1999/Sucrose/structur.htm .

To see the 3-D structure of sugar, click on the multi-colored graphic at http://www.3dchem.com/molecules.asp?ID=59# and follow the instructions in the new window that opens up.
