If you can really afford it go ahead (especially if your current phone is broken or is not a smartphone. However, with tech it may be best to let the early-adopters find all the bugs that need to be worked out. If you wait and buy the second generation Pre you may save money as the price may have dropped and you will probably hava a better phone.

How long would it take for a second generation of the Palm Pre? They are working now on the Pixie so it migth be a long while.

Its always hard to say when a second-generation piece of hardware or software will be out. I haven't heard anything either about the Pre.
