One strawberry flavored pop tart contains 200 empty calories, 5 grams of fat, 17g of sugar and 170mg of salt. The Kelloggs web-site claims that they also contain 7 vitamins and minerals, but I have yet to find a list of what these are. Canada's food guide recommends males between the ages of 16-50 years of age consume between 2600-2900 calorie when you maintain a low (regular level of daily activity plus 30-60 minutes of walking or other such exercise daily) level of activity. They also recommend that these calories be of some nutritional value.
Pop tarts contain refined sugar and refined carbohydrates (read: enriched white flour) which studies have shown to cause ADHD and other behavioral problems in children, as well as diabetes and numerous other ailments. People digest refined foods differently than whole foods, ad refining them strips them of their nutritional value. (hence having to enrich them back with vitamins and minerals after wards) For more information on refined foods click here;

I used to live off refined sugars and hotdogs and other such sub-par food, but once I began to learn about nutrition, and tried it for a while, my tastes changed. Now I crave multi-grain bread and only eat the white stuff mommy used to feed me when I'm really poor, it's an adjustment, but it can be done.

Short answer, No. They are one of the worst foods marketed as "breakfast" I have ever heard of.
