Which countertop water filtration system would you recommend?

Which countertop water filtration system would you recommend? I'm
currently interested in the LivingWaters 4-Stage Countertop at
mrwaterfilter.com. Although I've seen a similar but less expensive
model at pure-earth.com (Model CTD-CB). So many different filtration
methods, it can be confusing.

PureEarth CTD-CB:
Price $119
Included Filter Cartridges:
KDF-55/GAC (Replacement $40)
CBR (Replacement $20)

Living Waters 4-Stage:
Price $279
Included Filter Cartridges:
KDF-55/Doulton Sterasyl Ceramic (Replacment $75)
CBR/UltraFiltration (AKA Ster-O-Tap) (Replacement $67)

Any other similar systems out there?

I've been unable to locate reviews on these specific models except on their own websites, which I have to say scares me. Are there specific features in these models that you like? If so, finding another company might be your best choice for reliability.

The KDF-55 filter which removes chlorine (not just taste and odor) and other things (http://www.kdfft.com) definitely has my interest.

I would like a second filter cartridge as well (both products I mentioned have two), but I'm still considering my options as far as the filter media in the 2nd filter container. I'm likely to go with something like the less expensive model as mentioned. I'm not sure that I need the ultrafiltration that the Ster-O-Tap provides.

Lastly, I don't want a filtration system that pre-filters the water into a container that you then have to wait to refill once it is all used.

I'm no water filter expert, but I'm kind of with bernices, just in general buying direct from the smaller-time companies can be a crapshoot unless you get a specific recommendation from a third party you trust.

That said, I've seen a lot of shopping sites like Shopzilla and NexTag carry similar items from AllergyBuyersClub.com...they seem like they would have a unique and relevant perspective on which filtration systems you might want to buy. Nothing similar to your favored filter for less dough on first glance, but, just a thought...

Although you didn't recommend any specific filter system, your post did make me dig further into allergybuyersclub.com and I did buy a filter from them.
