No, they weren't, not for the movies themselves at least. All that happened was that an April 2006 court settlement barred the production of any more sequels, and the sale of any of the ones already made.

As far as the acts WITHIN the films:

"...the four [creators pleaded guilty in 2003 to arranging a fight without a permit. They were fined $500 each and scolded by the judge as devoid of decency."

Says they were prosecuted, got minor probation, etc.  And, they settled the civil suits for $ out of court
