Answer being, of course, that she had sexual relations with a student...in her first year as a teacher. Not a good way to get a career off the ground.

I wonder if the media is just looking for these stories more or if it really is a growing epidemic that teachers feel they can have intimate relations with students? I think it's weird and at the very least a conflict of interest when a college professor has a relationship with an adult student, let alone this craziness that takes place in high schools...
