For Kent's part, he says his ability to forgive Bart was a gift from God, and he has apparently always had an unshakable religious faith...

He had a spiritual moment while in the hospital to forgive whoever did it, turns out it was his son.

Fact is Bart is being held accountable for his actions. Kent loves him and really has nothing but Bart left, and of course He almost was not here due to Bart. The state is holding him accountable without the emotional strings that families hold. Kinda like a jury member can't know you ir the crime when making a judgment.

I don't have kids, so I can't quite imagine it either, but apparently you love your kids no matter what, and if your kid has a sickness like the sickness that Bart must have been experiencing to set the shootings up, I guess you can't help but feel some kind of sympathy? Or maybe he felt responsible for not making sure he knew his son well enough to know he was capable of something like this? For Kent's part, he says his ability to forgive Bart was a gift from God, and he has apparently always had an unshakable religious faith...
