How do I fix/delete a huge console.log file?

I have OS X tiger on an old 12' iBook and this file is almost 10gb. I
can't delete it as it's always in use. What do I do?

I could be wrong but the way I use to take care of this kind of thing was by cp /dev/null to that file.
