I think the best video screen capture software for the Mac is Screenflow from Telestream, Inc. They have a trial so you can see what you get before you buy, and an iPhone app as well. I used the software a while back, but remember I was impressed with the features. I will put a link in the resources below.
On the PC, I've used Camtasia for years, and I like that a lot. They make it very easy to use as well. Camtasia announced that they will have a version for the Mac out in mid 2009. Again, I've included some links to that info in the resources area of this post.

I'm looking at doing some video tutorials and need good software for my mac

Yes, ScreenFlow is probably the best, also there is SnapzPro X, and iShowYou... but if you want free use Jing but it limits the video to 5 minutes
