I have been a New England Patriots fan since the times of Steve Grogan.
I have lived through Russ Francis and Stanley Morgans, the Andre Tippett and Craig James, the Robert Edwards and Mosi Tatupu, Drew Bledsoe and Ben Coates..all the good times and the bad.
We, New England fans have paid our dues in mediocrity and failure enough so these recent times of great success have be as sweet as any sports fan could ask for. Thank You Bill Belichick. Thank You Tom Brady.
I love the Pats, always have. I left the bar early during Super Bowl XLIII, didn't see the last five minutes... I actually cried when I found out what happened.

2nd has to be the NY Jets. Was a Jets fan first and always liked them more than the Giants and used to go to many Jets games as a kid.

The Cowboys are often called America's Team, but they are often loathed by other football fans. I think this is mainly because the Cowboys won so many championships consecutively that people started to get tired of them. They haven't done great in several years now, but I am still a loyal fan.
This year, they will begin playing in their insane new billion dollar stadium.

Pottsville Pennsylvania is also the home of Yuengling, the oldest brewery in the United States. Although Yuengling beers are not up to the modern craft beers, they are better than the mass market national/internationals. Their Porter is their best beer, and a Black & Tan (mixture of porter and lager) is very popular.
Although the Maroons no longer are present in the NFL, they need support because the 1925 NFL championship was stolen from them by the League management. The excuse was the Maroons playing an exhibition game against college all-stars against the wishes of the NFL management. The Maroons were clearly the best team and had beaten the Cardinals, to whom the championship was transferred. There is still an active campaign by citizens of Pottsville and other interested parties to have this wrong undone.

My first team has to be the SF 49ers. Back in high school the group of friends i hung out with were 49ers fans and I started following them more through them. This was back during the late Montana years going into the Steve Young era. It kinda stuck since then and from being a fan I've developed an interest in learning more about San Francisco and the bay area. About 8 years ago when I met a couple of my new close friends one of them is a big SF fan too sot hat rekindled my intrest. 2nd has to be the NY Jets. Was a Jets fan first and always liked them more than the Giants and used to go to many Jets games as a kid.

Been a supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles since 1977, when I was 8 years old. I live about 50 miles from Philadelphia and being the local team, that was the team shown. When they reached the Super Bowl in 1981, albeit losing to the Raiders, that was the highlight for me as an 11 year old. Dick Vermeil was the coach then. He left following the 1982 season. The Eagles were bad for the next few years then Buddy Ryan took over and with the addition of players such as Reggie White and Randall Cunningham, among others, the Eagles because a very competitive team in the late 1980's and early 1990's. Rich Kotite took over and he was never a very good coach. Ray Rhodes was next and with Rodney Peete at quarterback taking over for Randall Cunningham, the team made the playoffs in 1995. Andy Reid took over the team and has been head coach since 1998. The Eagles have made 5 NFC champsionship games under 5 and quarterback Donovan McNabb, although made it to the super bowl only 1 time, winning the conference championship in 2004. I enjoy the radio broadcasts with Merrill Reese, he called the famous "Miracle Of The Meadowlands" play back in the late 1970s. My favorite all time players from the Eagles are Ron Jaworski, Wilbert Montgomery, Bill Bergey, Mike Quick, Reggie White, Randall Cunningham, Eric Allen, Keith Jackson, Keith Byars, Seth Joyner, Donovan McNabb, Brian Westbrook, Brian Dawkins.. and there are more...

I've been a Dallas Cowboys since I was about 8 years old. I didn't know anything about football at the time...I just liked their uniforms. However, my interest in the team stuck, and now I am a die-hard fan. http://thehostess.files.wordpress.com/2009/03/tony-romo-dallas-cowboys-touchdown-400a-113006.jpg

Right! Which is exactly why the Cowboys have won 5 superbowls to the Redskin's 3, 19 division championships to the skin's 12, and 10 conference championships to the skin's 5. And oh yeah...Cowboys lead in wins against the skins too by 57 to 39! Dallas is, and always has been, a superior team to the Redskins!

But who won the last game at the old cow stadium. LoL. Da skins. And if you read my post below you would see the skins have 5 championships ... that is the only stat that matters.
Let's face it if it weren't for the Cowboys, Redskin fans wouldn't have any fun. What would we do without anybody to hate? We would probably find somebody else, like the Vikings, but it just wouldn't be the same. So really we don't mind the Cowboys that much, we just want to have fun. Unless they beat us, then they're a bunch of jerk.

I am a Washington Redskins fan because that is where I have lived my whole life and supporting the "local team" make you apart of the community. I get as much enjoyment supporting the skins as I do hating on their rivals. Franchise History

Because it was a given that almost every answer would be uninteresting. People normally root for teams of the city where they lived or where they were brought up, despite the fact that the players are from elsewhere and are traded around at the whim of management.

Actually I find almost all sports questions even more uninteresting, so much so that I don't click on them at all, so I don't get to mark them uninteresting. This one I knew I could work in a couple of items on my own agenda but little thanks to the question itself, really.

Patriots, well there's no accounting for taste I suppose. Seriously they have been one of the best NFL teams over recent seasons and are obviously a good one to support if you want to win some trophies.
