My personal opinion is, if a fan is defined as a human, then this photo would not have qualified as the best fan photo, and also it was not my personal favorite, but it was the one that caught me off guard the most.
Sometimes when the asker is only looking for one answer, and the answerer provides 5 photos, that's when the answerer did not follow what the asker wanted. Since the asker only asked for 1 best or most fun fan photo, providing 5 is like making it harder on the asker to choose.

I'm fine with the pictures of the dog with jerseys. That's fine. It says something about the dog. It says something about the owner. It's immediately understandable. That monkey is not.

Not only are you right, but you called a chimp a chimp. How can people who are supposed to be educated enough to answer questions from the public call a chimp a monkey? Chimpanzees are apes not monkeys.

It was opened up to community votes which on opinion types of polls doesn't always make a lot of sense in hindsight. I personally would have picked a different picture, but can see why someone would pick the monkey...it's cute and so far over the top that it comes back around to being sensible. Maybe if it had the team symbol rather than just colors it would be a better pic...

Yes and no. Yes, because it was the most unexpected. Everyone thinks of a fan as a human, but this fan is a monkey. It made me laugh the most, but at the same time it wasn't some random guy with his shirt off or body painted, but then again was it really a fan photo could be debatable. I would also say no it was not the best answer because it was decided by votes alone and the one right below it could have one. It was a toss up! This type of question is very hard to answer as well, as it's very subjective to answer. My personal opinion is, if a fan is defined as a human, then this photo would not have qualified as the best fan photo, and also it was not my personal favorite, but it was the one that caught me off guard the most.

The defining issue for me is that you just can't tell who the monkey is supposed to be a fan of. In fact, you can barely tell the monkey is supposed to be a fan of anything. It's almost off-topic, and for that I say the best one did not get chosen. I'm fine with the pictures of the dog with jerseys. That's fine. It says something about the dog. It says something about the owner. It's immediately understandable. That monkey is not.
