Why is there so many calories in a taboule salad ? I don't get it, it's mainly parsley, couscous, oignons, oil and vinegar!

Fat is 9 kcals per gram
Protein is 4 kcals per gram
Carbohydrates are 4 kcals per gram

Determine the macronutrient makeup of taboule salad and voila!, you've figured out why there are so many cals. My guess would be the oil (fat).

What is in the dressing/dip on the sides? They could be loaded with sugar. The couscous probably makes up the bulk of the calories.
