It could be a few things:
If your ice maker has a filter, change it if it hasn't been changed in awhile. An old filter could affect the taste.
The funny taste of your ice cubes could even be caused by something as simple as the food you have in your freezer. Refrigerators and freezers get odors from food being stored in them. Sometimes the odor is not that obvious to your nose, but more obvious in foods, etc. Try putting in a box of baking soda in your freezer. They sell them, with vents, specifically for fridges and freezers or you can just put some in a bowl and set it in your freezer. The baking soda will absorb the odors and it will need to be refreshed/replaced on occasion.
It could also be the plumbing. Some pipes, or even build up in pipes, can cause a funny taste in water. You can flush the lines, change pipes or get an inline filter to attach to the pipe of your ice maker. If the odor is due to your pipes or your water a filter system should take care of the problem.

Most appliance experts recommend cleaning out your your freezer and ice dispenser every now and then to keep all water and ice as fresh tasting as possible.
Here is one site that gives you some details on washing out your ice maker to improve the taste of your ice.
If cleaning doesn't work, consider that this would be an indication that some impurities are getting into your water. Does your ice maker have a water purity filter? If so, make sure you've replaced the filter as recommended (they're only good for so long!). If not, then you might want to begin filtering your water that goes into the ice maker and investigate why the quality of your water has changed.
Good luck!

Why does my ice from the ice maker taste funky?
The freezer doesn't smell, there is no odor. If I just leave the ice in my cup I can't tell a difference but I like to chomp on ice and this just tastes funny.
Any ideas?

My best personal guess is that it could be a dust issue. Dust tastes pretty stale and disgusting (ever eaten a dusty piece of fruit or cookie? Sadly, I have!) And dust and tiny dirt particles can penetrate just about any space in your house given enough time, including your refrigerator and freezer. Most appliance experts recommend cleaning out your your freezer and ice dispenser every now and then to keep all water and ice as fresh tasting as possible.

I would say it is probably something that you have in your freezer. Even if your freezer doesn't smell, the ice is in there with those things all the time, and I know my ice maker doesn't have a top, maybe yours does. It could also be freezer burn. I am not sure if ice can get freezer burn, but everything else can, and nothing ever tastes good when it is freezer burnt.
