Unfortunately, we live in a world full of cheap, high calorie food. Cookies, ice cream, chocolate, soda pop, etc. are full of the stuff our bodies crave. We eat this stuff to excess and it makes us fat. But excesses like this never existed when humans had to hunt and gather for food. That's why more than 50% of Americans are considered overweight.

I'm sure someone offered someone the colon of a skunk to try once, but obviously that didn't catch on, because it wasn't as good.
But we don't know or try things without someone else having recommended it in some way shape or form. whether it was our parents or the TV, someone said it was good, and we believed them and found them to be right.
However, we were eating these things long before TV (mass advertising) was invented, and THAT should be some food for thought...

Why do we eat cookies, ice cream and chocolate?

Do we eat cookies, ice cream and chocolate because our parents ate cookies, ice cream and chocolate in front of us when we were kids? Or, do we eat cookies, chocolate and ice cream because there are always commercials of cookies, ice cream and chocolate on TV?

We eat them because they taste great... our bodies love the fact that they are full sugar and fat. It can't be just the adverts.. after all my parents eat Bran Flakes... Bran Flakes were advertised a lot on the TV when I was growing up, and I hate Bran Flakes....

It's all about evolution. Humans (and many animals) evolved to seek out high-calorie, energy rich foods. Sugar and fat are great sources of calories.

We eat them because we know them to be good. Someone somewhere along the lines discovered/made them, told someone else to try it, and so it began. I'm sure someone offered someone the colon of a skunk to try once, but obviously that didn't catch on, because it wasn't as good.
