Valrhona is GREAT. They have an 88% dark carried at Trader Joe's. My locations have it for $2.99 for 3.5 ounces, which is incredibly cheap for chocolate of this quality!
I also really like the Endangered Species 88%. It's organic and European-conched. It runs around $4.50 for a 3.5 ounce bar. I think it's better than the Valrhona--smoother, more complex flavor, even though the cocoa content is higher. I think it may be a combination of their natural fermentation process for the beans, combined with the European conching that accomplishes this.

The 70% dark bar is approximately $4.00.
Hope this helps.

You can order their chocolate with various amounts of Cocoa. From 56% to 100%, you're sure to find a ratio that your pallet will enjoy.
If you're a chocolate lover, you won't regret trying the chocolate from this store.

I toured their chocolate making factory (small) in California while on vacation. They had incredible samples. I have always loved dark chocolate but due to the difference in their processing of cocoa beans, the chocolate doesn't have the acidity (I think that was their explanation) that most other brands have and as such it had the fullness of the dark chocolate flavor without the bitterness that you would typically associate with it.
This was the relevant statement I found on their website:
"We buy cacao beans from around the world and only use cacao beans that undergo thorough on-farm fermentation. The farmer ferments the cacao beans before packing and shipping them. This step is critical to flavor. This takes extra time and effort on the part of farmers and we are willing to pay more for taking these extra essential steps."
Their 82% cocoa doesn't taste too dark to me (I wouldn't enjoy 70% Lindt). I would also suggest their nibby bar which has small chunks of cocoa beans for a satisfying crunch (slightly similar to espresso beans) but this bar is only 62%.
They have stores in San Francisco and New York and you can buy a more limited selection of their chocolate at Williams Sonoma. I've also seen some at Trader Joe's.

I buy them from my local Fred Myer for around $3.00, but I know Whole Foods and other natural markets carry them as well.

What is the best dark chocolate (70% Cocoa or higher) bar that you have found? Include where to buy and price.
The other thing I would ask is to try and keep sugar to less than 10g per serving. 8g or less is preferred. Thanks! Also don't just do an internet search. I'm looking for first hand experience. You need to have tasted these chocolates yourself. Give me your personal opinions.

• I love Trader's Joe and will have to check out Valrhona the next time I'm there. The nutrition information I found looks good and the price is great. Thanks for the tip :)

Those are not dark chocolate despite what the wrapper says. They have milk solids. They're actually really tasty, darkish milk chocolate. :D

I just realized that I forgot to include the price in my original posting. A 3 oz. bar of 70% or 82% has a retail price of $5. They also have several limited edition dark chocolates sourced from specific regions that are a bit more expensive.

My favorite is Extreme Dark Chocolate from Endagered Species Chocolate (http://www.chocolatebar.com/index.asp). It has 88% cocoa content, tastes great, and part of the proceeds support a good cause :) I buy them from my local Fred Myer for around $3.00, but I know Whole Foods and other natural markets carry them as well.
