Spicy thai food and Beaujolais red wine tonight. Wine experts out there: this is good together right?

i'm not much into wine, but i'd pair something fruity like a grenache with spicy foods.

Pairing wine with food is very tricky. A better match with Thai food would be Gewurztraminer from Alsace - a good producer is Trimbach - buy their basic Gewururz. A German Riesling Kabinett or an Aussie Riesling would also be a better match. Grenache goes with:

Beef
• Beef Stew
• Roast Beef
• Shepherd's Pie

Cheese
• Banon
• Pas De L'escalette
• Perail De Brebis
• Petit Provencal

Chicken/Poultry
• Herb-Rubbed Roast Chicken

Desserts
• Mince Pies

Grenache does pair with cinnamon and ginger but in the context of heavier meats roasted and stewed in a western manner. Only in an emergency would I think of having it with Thai Food...and personally I wouldn't do that. I would stick to one of the lovely native non-alcoholic Thai fruit drinks Thai restaurants serve. (BTW, I'm a Certified Sommelier trained in wine/wine& food pairing).
