Someone on Twitter just said that 75 million Americans eat at McDonald's every day. Can that possibly be true?

I know it's popular, but 75 million Americans?

The 2007 US Census indicates that there are about 306 million Americans:

So almost 25% of Americans eat McDonald's every day? Huh?

McDonalds was serving 27 million Americans every day in 2007, and was increasing at a rate of 1 million per year. So the twitter post was wrong.

It is possible that 75 million is the worldwide number of people served per week, but that is just speculation on my part.
