If it's for a client I'm assuming that this is a customer relations and marketing sort of opportunity. I suggest you include something personalized with your logo that is either a fun toy or a useful item.
It needs to be interesting enough that they don't throw it out and so that they keep it somewhere that they will see it, notice your logo and remember you. Ideally, it needs to be interesting enough so that they'll play with it our use it in front of others and be asked about it.
Toys:
Rubber band gun http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16079
Desktop Catapult http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/madscientist/81e6/
USB Rocket Launcher http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/techies/8a0f/
Useful:
USB Thumb drive
Pen http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/giftsunder10/b23c/
Pocket tool or Executive sized Swiss army knife
Mug (a nice thick mug with a wide base and a large handle that is comfortable to use, not a cheapie)
Even better, try to choose something that compliments your business. A cleaning company might want to give out a reusable cleaning shammie. A private detective might want to give out a mini pocket telescope or a wireless camera detector gadget. A security firm might put their logo on an RFID Blocking Passport wallet: http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/giftsunder20/910f/
