The best thing to do with allergies is to attempt to single out a cause. Cut out the smoothies for a few days, and see if your lips get better. If not, then try cutting out the Aquaphor. And so on until you find the cause. Then you can figure out ways of avoiding it in the future.

Lips after a minor case of sunburn continue to be puffy and dry. Is this possibly a food allergy?
I have always got itchy from being out in the sun for a prolonged period of time and most recently I felt as if I burned my lips. They were inflamed and red so I covered them with aquaphor (used for severe burns) for 2 days and they appeared to be close to "normal". However since that happened some days my upper lip and corner areas are puffy and red, as if my lip line has expanded. My sister says she gets that way when eating a fruit with skin (ie- a peach or apples), and while I do consume fruit everyday it's typically via straw in a smoothie.
Did the stress from sun exposure possibly bring out a food allergy I was previously unaware of?
Also relevant is that I have celiac disease and do not consume any wheat or gluten. I have not previously noticed any skin symptoms in relation to my celiac. My partner does consume wheat so I hope I'm not allergic to him, but rather a food, and which food would it likely be? And besides for not eating that item, what's the best onitment to use if I do consume that item?

How long have you been off of the Aquaphor? I would actually wonder about being allergic to one of the active ingredients in there. I've heard of a few who are allergic to the lanolin.... The best thing to do with allergies is to attempt to single out a cause. Cut out the smoothies for a few days, and see if your lips get better. If not, then try cutting out the Aquaphor. I suupose it could be the aquaphor, as I've been using it on and off, but it's the only thing besides blistex that really seems to make them feel better.

It is certainly possible that you may have a food allergy, though it's probable that it's simply a lasting result of the sunburn. Your symptoms do not sound like a typical food allergy. You should consult a doctor for professional advice. This question is too serious to answer in this forum, especially given your current dietary restrictions. This is a good answer--providing some guidance, and authoritative source, and suggesting she speak to her doctor.

You are probably still reacting from the sun exposure - lips are very sensitive. However, since you have gluten intolerance, be sure to check the ingredients on all lotions, makeup, creams, etc. for products which you should not use. In case you are allergic to something else, go without eating processed food for a while (just back to basic, plain food) and gradually add things back in.

My sister has celiac as well. Kissing your husband after he eats wheat could give you itchy lips. Also certain lipsticks, lips balms, etc can have gluten in them. It is also possible that you simply have another food allergy. (My husband gets itchy lips when he eats fruits and veggies that have wax on them.-- maybe it's time to start buying organic?) Start keeping track of what you eat and when your lips get itchy.

My lips don't get itchy really, just my skin after being in the sun. My lips were feeling more super dry but not cracked. I do buy organic and while I haven't completely ruled out in being my partner, I'm leaning towards it not being related to contact with him.
