Of course. Put it in a ziploc bag. When you say you are going to clean a live crab, I assume you mean take the "flap" off, open it and wash out the innards (at which point it's no longer alive). You should also remove the gills. It will be perfectly fine until the next day. You can also steam him, and then put him in the fridge until he next day. Most people I know don't "gut" them before refrigerating them in this instance, but I do after I steam them. I actually accumulate a batch from the traps for 2 or 3 days, cooked, cleaned and refrigerated, and then remove the meat for freezing when I have enough to bother with.
