Making Lay's potato chips would be very difficult for you to do at home as it requires peeling, slicing, and frying allot of chips. Which would take you quite a while to produce a good quantity to eat.
I could not find a Lay's recipe but here is a easy, and quick recipe that you can season to your liking (you can try seasoning your chips with ingredients similar to Lay's. Next time you buy a bag look on the ingredient list you may find some things on there like garlic salt, dill, chili powder, etc.)
To make the job even easier use a mandolin to get the thin chips similar to Lay's.

Ingredients:

* 4 large potatoes (russet, yellow gold, white or red potatoes)
* Your choice spices (granulated garlic powder, seasoning salt, cayenne pepper, dried dill weed, granulated garlic powder)
* Vegetable oil, for microwave bacon tray

Directions:

1. If potatoes are old, peel and slice thin, less than 1/16" in thickness (paper thin), slicing across the potato.

2. If the potatoes are new or good skins, DO NOT PEEL, just scrub well, then slice them less than 1/16" in thickness (paper thin), slicing across the potato.

3. Place potato slices in a bowl, sprinkle with some salt (if desired) cover with cold water and let sit for 10 minutes.

4. Remove potato slices in batches onto paper toweling and pat dry.

5. If you have a microwave bacon tray, rub the tray with a vegetable oil, then place the sliced potatoes flat on the tray in a single layer.

6. Sprinkle with your choice of herbs or spices or just leave them plain.

7. Cover with a microwaveable, round heavy plastic cover.

8. Microwave on HIGH (full power) for 5 to 5 1/2 minutes or until they curl slightly and are a very light brow

I doubt you can make them just like lays. But what you do is cut a potato really really thin - almost see thru. And you deep fry - or bake! After, you add salt. let cool. And eat! As far as temp for the oven... Im not 100% sure, but I would say about 350-400. Just watch it to make sure they dont burn. it really shouldnt take too long either way.

My kids love to make homemade potato chips, but they don't turn out just like Lay's because we don't have industrial equipment in our home.

They do turn out more like Cape Cod Kettle chips!

Here's what they do. I think my daughter saw this on Rachael Ray when she (my daughter) was about 7:

Wash potatoes and scrub the skin, but do not peel. I usually have either Idaho potatoes or Yukon Gold. I think Yukon Gold work a little better because they're halfway between a baker and a boiler.

Heat olive oil and a little coconut oil in a large wok. The coconut oil gives it a higher flash point (point at which it will catch fire). Peanut oil is great but expensive so they just use what I have on hand.

Slice the potatoes as thin as humanly possible. It's possible to do this in a good food processor.

Add in a single layer to the oil, with the heat on high. They will cook quickly. As they brown, flip them with tongs and then remove them to paper towels over newspapers to drain.

Sprinkle immediately with sea salt and balsamic vinegar and serve hot!

These are terrific, and we plan ahead to do this once every few weeks as a treat. My kids have talked about doing this in lieu of a lemonade stand!

Here is how Lay's make their potato chips! Good luck.

Lay's are cooked in healthier oils like sunflower and corn oils, which contain 0g trans fats and low in saturated fats.

Wash: They bathe and clean whole grade A potatoes thoroughly in water.

Peel: They gently peel the skin so flavor remains.

Sliced: The potatoes are thinly slice and rinsed again to remove excess starch.

Cook: Slices are cooked to a crispy crunch in all-natural oil.

Season: Finally, the chips are topped with a sprinkle of salt.
