Its not enough to make a difference, if you do it every time over a long period it will make a difference, just like drinking cold water it forces your body to warm it up (internal temp wants to stay at 98.8) same with living in cold temps.
The negative food thing you are looking at, kind of works but at the same time you are kind of starving yourself, your body desires calories and the best way to give them what it wants and to lose weight is a simple math problem.
Calories Burned > Calories taken in. If you do that it doesn't matter if you ate 10 pounds of butter, as long as you burned more calories then the butter, you will lose weight.
*NOTE* That is for weight loss only, heart attacks are a different matter. Seek a professional for proper nutritional help.
Also, if you are looking at the Atkins diet, I wouldn't suggest it....it has some really bad side effects (potential) if you do it for to long.

I just dabbed my pepperoni pizza to soak up extra grease, did I shave off any calories? About how many?
