Instructions
Things You'll Need:
* Tea granules
* 1 cup Water
* Sugar
* Tea Masala
* Cloves
* Crushed Ginger
* Cardamom
* Tea Cup
* Small pot or Kettle
* Access to a stove
* Spoon, teaspoon
* 1 cup milk (2% or whole)
* Strainer

First make sure that you have following items with you –
Get some good crushed, granular Tea (not the tea bags).
Indian Tea Masala packet (Badshah brand)
You can find these in any Indian grocery store. Usually, you can find rest of the items in your house.

Take one cup of fresh water in a small pot or kettle. Add two spoons of sugar (add extra depending on individual taste); 1 and ½ spoon of tea powder; 1 Clove (cut into two pieces); 1 Cardamom (broken or crushed); 1 teaspoon of tea masala and 1 teaspoon of crushed ginger. Put on the stove and keep it on medium heat.

When it starts boiling, wait for 1 minute and then add a cup of milk. If you like strong tea, you can boil the tea water for few more minutes.

Now stay near the stove and be attentive. After putting the milk, the tea will boil and suddenly it may overflow. So as soon as it starts boiling, reduce the flame and let it boil for 2 to 4 minutes.
Tip : Boil longer if you want stronger tea (dark color).

Pour the tea in two cups (one for you and one for me) using strainer (will help to remove the granular tea and other ingredients).

Enjoy hot Indian Masala tea and relish every sip.

Tea leaves 3 tsp.
Black pepper 3-4
Cloves 2
Green cardamom powder 1/4 tsp.
Brown cardamom powder 1/4 tsp.

Method:
1. Heat water in a pan.
2. Add sugar and tea masala (black pepper, cloves, green cardamom powder, brown cardamom powder, crushed ginger, aniseed) and bring it to boil.
3. Reduce the heat. Let it boil for another 5 minutes on low heat with pan partially covered.
4. When the bubbles start coming up, add tea leaves and milk.
5. Bring 3-4 boils and then switch off the gas.
6. Strain into the cups. Masala tea is ready to serve.

Masala Chai from India has become popular worldwide. It is one of my favorite hot beverages. I tried many recipes for making Masala tea at home, but I found this one to be authentic and very close to the one in my favorite Indian restaurant.
