You first must make this yummy macaroni and cheese and use the left overs for this Grilled Macaroni and Cheese Sandwich. Enjoy!

Patti Labelle's Macaroni and Cheese Recipe

50 min | 15 min prep

SERVES 8

* 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
* 1 lb macaroni
* 8 tablespoons butter
* 1 tablespoon butter
* 1/2 cup muenster cheese, shredded
* 1/2 cup mild cheddar cheese, shredded
* 1/2 cup sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
* 1/2 cup monterey jack cheese, shredded
* 2 cups half-and-half
* 8 ounces Velveeta cheese, cubed
* 2 eggs, lightly beaten
* 1/4 teaspoon seasoning salt
* 1/8 teaspoon fresh ground pepper

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Lightly butter a deep 2 1/2 quart baking dish.
3. Fill a large pot with water and bring to a rapid boil.
4. Add macaroni and the 1 TB oil.
5. Cook for 7 minutes, or until somewhat tender.
6. Drain well, and return to the pot.
7. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt 8 TB of the butter.
8. Stir into macaroni.
9. In a large bowl, combine all of the shredded cheeses.
10. To the macaroni, add 1 1/2 cups of shredded cheeses, half and half, the cubed cheese and the eggs, and the seasoned salt and pepper.
11. Transfer to the prepared casserole dish, and top with remaining 1/2 cup shredded cheese.
12. Dot with remaining 1 TB of the butter.
13. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and bubbly.
14. Serve hot.
15. Serves 8.

Now to the construction of the sandwich. It is quite simple. Place a chunk of the delicious mac n' cheese between 2 pieces of bread. Place at least 1 tablespoon of butter in the skillet. Brown one side and repeat with more butter for the flip side. This really does make a good sandwich and if you have a bit of leftover mac n' cheese, it is worth your time.

I can't decide whether this whole Mac and cheese sandwich is too bizarre for words or whether I want to eat one.

Wait, wait.. make sure and save some Mac and Cheese for lunch the next day for my personal favorite: FRIED Macaroni and Cheese

Ingredients
Peanut oil, for frying
Your Favorite Mac and Cheese Recipe prepared, chilled in the refrigerator overnight, and cut into squares, strips or wedges
Flour, for dredging
1 egg, beaten
Plain bread crumbs, for dredging
Directions
Heat 2 inches of oil in a large, heavy Dutch oven to 350 degrees F.

Dredge each Cheesy Mac square in flour, then egg, and then bread crumbs to coat. Fry for about 1 minute on each side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels before serving.

Once you have the macaroni cooked and drained, place in a large bowl and while still hot, add the Cheddar. In a separate bowl, combine the remaining ingredients and add to the macaroni mixture. Pour macaroni mixture into a casserole dish and bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Top with additional cheese, if desired.

I wait til the next day when the Mac & Cheese is cold and I slice off a chunk and put it with spread mayo on some toasted bread. OR, I make A HOT sandwich.. a panini, by stuffing the Mac&Chees in some rye bread and fry it up in some butter under a heavy plate to squish it tight.

Make your mac and cheese in the pan, mix in some bread crumbs, about 1/3 a cup per box for consistency. Now butter 2 peices of bread on the outside (garlic butter works really well so you have kind of a garlic bread) now slap a piece of cheese (chedder is my preferance) on the inside of one of the peices of bread. Take some big scoops of the mac and cheese/bread crumb mix and slap it on the other. Put your sandwich together now and either pan grill it or do what I do and bake it at 450 for about 5 min or until the bread is toasty, don't burn the mac and cheese, if you do put it in the oven leave it open face and put your peice of cheese on top of your mac and cheese. Leave the naked peice of bread with the butter side facing up. This should melt in the garlic butter and make it toasty. Don't burn your cheese like I said 5 min should be enough. Now take it out, it will be hot, slap it together let it cool a little and enjoy.

This is WAY easier then any of the other ways your going to find and it tastes even better then actually breading and frying the mac and cheese. Plus it doesn't make you feel like your eating all starch and carbs (even though you are) because of the garlic bread as opposed to just toast. Also the prep time is about 15 min, 10 for the mac and cheese and 5 to bake the sandwich, Making it the fastest way to enjoy this cheesey dish.

See below nice recipe featured on recipezaar. In addition to that -- I would add tomato.

"Another invented recipe from circa 1970. Of course, it was Mom's homemade macaroni and cheese recipe I used in this sandwich, but I will allow you to use your favorite mac 'n' cheese. The key is to use leftover mac and cheese, not freshly baked. *This being my seven hundredth recipe posted, I had to make it extra special.*

Ingredients

* 2 slices bread, toasted (Wonder Bread-if my memory hasn't failed me!)
* 3/4 cup prepared macaroni and cheese, LEFTOVER, warmed (I would FRY the mac 'n' cheese in margarine first!)
* yellow mustard (it was French's-I'm certain of it!)

Directions

1.Toast the bread and spread with the yellow mustard.
2.Pile on the macaroni and cheese.
3.Place one slice of bread on top of the pile of mac 'n' cheese. Smoosh it down."
