As I can tell from the picture, this sandwich has two breaded fried-chicken breasts (instead of buns), each of which is about 10 carbs, totaling about 20 carbs for the chicken alone:

To find out what your daily required carbohydrate intake is, use this calculator:
http://www.healthcalculators.org/calculators/carbohydrate.asp
For example, I am a 26 year old female and my height is 5'8. Therefore, my daily required carbohydrate intake is 267 carbs. In comparison, yes, 20 carbs is very low.

Many Low fat spreads have higher fat contents than alternative 'regular' spreads

I'm sure the same twisted logic also applies to carbs.

Besides, for items like that, they generally use mostly white meat, and white meat is white because it's full of glycogen instead of the myoglobin that makes dark meat dark, and glycogen is a carbohydrate, so most of the carb is actually coming from the chicken meat itself.

The main ingredients, chicken, bacon and cheese, have little to no carbs. The breading does not really add that many more, I would guess maybe 10 carbs, which is still less than a regular bun, which would be in the 50-60 range I think. A regular piece of fried chicken with the breading is around 5-8 carbs, and a yummy treat for those on a low-carb lifestyle. Like many other low-carb foods though, this needs to come with a coupon for a triple bypass as it looks like a heart attack waiting to happen.

It really depends on your definition of 'low' which apparently doesn't mean anything at all. Many Low fat spreads have higher fat contents than alternative 'regular' spreads

I agree, it does look quite tasty. I just don't get why they're making into a "sandwich" - why not just have one piece of chicken covered in cheese and bacon?

The KFC Double Down is low-carb simply because the "bun" is made from chicken. It consists of cheese, sauce and chicken - it is deep-fried, nut no bread and no flour, hence it is low-carb. For now the "sandwich" is available only in Rhode Island and Nebraska.... test-marketing to evaluate it's popularity.

Because breading or flouring a piece of meat doesn't add a significant carb-count to the food. Besides, for items like that, they generally use mostly white meat, and white meat is white because it's full of glycogen instead of the myoglobin that makes dark meat dark, and glycogen is a carbohydrate, so most of the carb is actually coming from the chicken meat itself.
