Nutritionally, they are roughly identical, (110 calories for a 30g serving, each have 15% of the daily value of Vitamin A, and 10% for Iron).
They were introduced simultaneously by Post Cereal in 1939.

Fruity pebbles are more versatile for cooking--a common dessert is dessert bars fashioned from fruity pebbles, butter and marshmallows (similar in nature to a rice-krispy treat).

Fruity pebbles are marginally more popular (8th versus 9th most popular in the children's cereal market).

The box of Fruity Pebbles is more aesthetically appealing, featuring a wider variety of colors.

A benefit of Cocoa Pebbles is the chocolately flavored milk that is created from eating a bowl of the cereal.

On balance: Fruity Pebbles are superior, however, taste is the ultimate determinant of preference.

When I was young I liked the fun of the Fruity. Now I've gotten older and I'm feeling the warm deep richness of the dark cocoa.

Fruity Pebbles rule!

They make me feel like I am eating healthy (i.e. the whole "fruit" concept), while satisfying the inner child in me.

Cocoa Pebbles leave the milk a bit too chocolaty for my taste, but of course this answer is simply a point of view.

Fruity Pebbles!
Without milk, each pebble is individually delicious, or as a handful, you get a plethora of flavors together. With milk, the flavors blend together perfectly.

Whether with milk or without, they are undeniably delicious.

They're both great, but here's the tiebreaker--Cocoa Pebbles make the milk chocolatey as the flavor drains out of them. But Fruity Pebbles' flavor just kind of 'disappears' when they get soggy.

Cocoa Pebbles are superior, therefore.

I like Fruity Pebbles as the flavor and colorfulness of fruit makes it taste great! When I want something chocolate, I'm not going to have it for breakfast in my cereal, it's more like a dessert. So, I would say go with the Fruity Pebbles!

Fruity Pebbles. Cocoa Pebbles don't really taste like real chocolate. Fruity Pebbles don't taste like real fruit, but they don't pretend to be. They're fruit-y. As in "fruit-like", "of or relating to fruit". As such, they are the perfect artificially flavored cereal-like substance.

Don't eat them any more, but back in the day, I had standards.

Cocoa Pebbles are better, but neither are as good as Cocoa Puffs.

I guess I have to vote for Fruity Pebbles. I am not a big chocolate fan, and I've never liked the chocolatey cereals. However, I've never loved Fruity Pebbles either, but they would definitely be my choice out of the two.

Although, I did really like Dino Pebbles when I was a kid. Anyone else remember them?

I like Fruity Pebbles better than Cocoa Pebbles. I do like chocolate a lot but not in my cereal. I like the fruity taste and the colors in the fruity pebbles.
