When I was in New Orleans, I noticed a sauce that is used on sandwiches and with chicken and sea food. It's called a remoulade sauce.
(look at the wiki description of Louisiana Remoulade)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remoulade

The base of remoulade is very similar to thousand island dressing in that they both have similar ingredients like mayo and other spices.

I could not find a recipe for remoulade that uses thousand island as a main ingredient, but I did find some great cajun remoulade recipes. These recipes use a very similar base to thousand island dressing.

This is a recipe that I've tried and love! "Catfish sandwiches with Cajun Remoulade".

Enjoy!

Recipe for Cajun Sauce:

1 Cup thousand island salad dressing
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 tablespoon tabasco sauce (can add more if you like it extra hot n spicy!)
1 tablespoon chopped fresh onion
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
