Can anyone please explain this Oprah / KFC giveaway nonsense? What is she trying to say? Forget diets, I was wrong, just eat KFC.

The giveaway was not for fried chicken, it was for grilled chicken.
I think this is part of a rebranding effort by KFC. They don't want to just be known as the fried chicken people, they want to do the same kind of thing that McDonalds, Subway, and other fast food places have done. They want to show that they have a healthier alternative.
So, I think KFC got together with Oprah's people and gave away a whole bunch of grilled chicken. And even though it may still not be the healthiest thing in the world, if you're going to get fast food anyway, you might as well get the healthier alternative.
