This is a matter of taste. Cognac has taste and vodka doesn't. Good beer is better than either.

Certainly vodka! The taste might be alot more boring, however the opportunities are much larger in terms of mixing and other creative drinking ideas. Besides you never know what kind of interesting Russian people you might meet while having a drink of vodka.

PS: Cognac is for old people or those who pretend to be classy and rich.
