For personal use? Google Earth. There is a Pro version too if you want to use it for your business or like they do on the News for presentations.
Imagine Google Maps with Street View then add the Ocean, Stars and everything in between. You can even go back in time to satellite images from years past to see how places have changed.
You can select which items of interest to view on your results and add map pins for places you want to remember (like bookmarks).
It does way more than I can list here. It's worth checking out. There's even an API code you can add to your existing Google map links to enhance user interactions.
Even if all you want is a list of restaurants in your area... :)
