Which of these same songs is the better song: Don McLean's American Pie or Weird Al's The Saga Begins?

Don Mclean's American Pie. It's the original of the two, and portrays real events. It's a song most anyone can relate to. The Saga Begins is humorous and a parody of American Pie. It's still very entertaining, but American Pie has stood the test of time, and will continue to be a very popular song.

I wouldn't call the Saga Begins humorous, honestly. I can't relate to American Pie, I don't know what he's talking about, but never bothered to look it up. Also of note, Don McLean sometimes accidentally starts singing the lyrics to The Saga Begins while performing American Pie.

For me Don Mclean's "American Pie" is the best and most original. I can memorize the lyrics of the song. I like the slow and then upbeat part of this 8:33 length song.
