I am sure there are better more researched answers based on things in books and comments from professional trainers. I will only speak from personal experiences and how i lost 60lb.
The very first thing I did was decide that enough is enough...YOU have to be ready for a change and realize that YOU CAN do it.
WALK...I know a lot of people who are skinny and athletic will be saying to jog or work on cardio but thats not honestly easy to start...it hurts. I walked. I walked a lot. When I decided to make a change I walked about an hour a day and twice at 45mins on the weekends. Using an IPOD or cellphone with music makes time go by. If you have a treadmill you can watch tv shows on DVD and tell yourself you can only watch it when working out.
DRINK WATER...keep yourself hydrated and get used to drinking it. It helps you keep hydrated and flushes some of that ucky stufff out.
EAT LESS MORE...smaller meals makes a bug difference, mix in some salads instead of bread. I found that the 1 calorie spray dressing at the store is FREAKING GOOD(seriously). Try to eat more protein and less fat, I ate a lot of chicken breasts with different seasonings. My favorite was taco seasoning on chicken breast, then wrap it in foil and bake. I could eat it by itself of mix it in a salad.
CUT THE CARBS AFTER LUNCH. I am a busy guy and I would often eat a lean cuisine or weight watchers meal for breakfast. At lunch, a half sandwich/salad and little to no carbs after that. That is based on the fact we can only process so much carbs...rest will hold us back from the weight loss we need.
If you follow these your life will change. I was so happy when people actually referred to me as skinny and you will too. Not to mention the opposite sex noticies...trust me ;)

"The very first thing I did was decide that enough is enough...YOU have to be ready for a change and realize that YOU CAN do it." I think I'm going threw this stage now. The will power to do these things seems to be the most difficult part.

Colonial think about this...try a small change. Tommorow do me a favor and go for a walk. just a quick 15min walk and cut back on the carbs for dinner(thats just one meal).

I have seen this so many times on Oprah and several commercials for it as well. Acai Berry products not only help reduce your craving for food, but they also raise your energy level. Right now you can try all 3 Acai Berry products for free.

If your willing to be honest and dedicated, it won't be that hard to lose the weight.

1.Do what you enjoy to do!

Anything, like having a nice walk around the park, or signing up for any sport or fitness group. (If your really up for it, I would sign up for a sports group)!

2.Eat what fruits or vegetables you like, you'll lose weight much quicker!

If your not going to eat what you like, don't bother even trying to lose 80-90 pounds. If you eat what you don't like and it's healthy, it won't work. (Eg. If I really loved Mango, I would come back from my exercise, wait a little, and then start to exercise.

Other than these tips, there's not much to losing weight.

Hope It Helps,
Bright Pride

There are a few tips on these pages:

Weight Loss and How to loose weight

I think that I could stand to loose a few pounds too. While my hands are better, stronger and faster than they've ever been thanks to the rigorous amounts typing that I've been doing, I've noticed the rest of what my wife refers to as "The Six Million Dollar Man" isn't in line.

So, I've been thinking about starting up a Traineo group made from members here on Mahalo Answers. Each week, I was thinking about awarding the person who makes the most progress toward their goal M$10 (of my own cash).

Here's what Traineo is:
http://www.traineo.com/how

What do you think? Would you be interested? Do you think it could help you, me and anyone else who wants to join?

One from personal experience is. Drink One 12 ounce glass of water Before the Meal. Not with it. I do not remember where I got the factoid from.. but over 1/3 of Americans Mistake Thirst for Hunger.. So this helps with that, and
it helps the body cleanse the stomach faster and also allows you to feel a little full sooner. Also eating apples can help supress the appetite.. So have an apple with your glass of water a few minutes before you meal.. Exercising before you meal can help increase metabolism.. but as always different peoples bodies respond to things differently so make sure you ask your doctor if its okay for you to try. - DNatureofDTrain

My wife and I have cut wheat and sugar out of our diet completely, which has made a huge difference in our overall health (plus we have lost a lot of weight). It was really tough for the first week, but after that we don't really miss it. We try to eat smaller meals more times a day and try to include as many fresh vegetables as possible. It is kind of scary to look at the labels on prepared foods or even the so called "whole" products at the supermarket. There are so many modified food starches and high-fructose corn syrup in them that you don't even realize you are consuming. I have found that we don't have the cravings or binge eating problems that we had before, I believe due to cutting out the sugar and HFCS.

Yeah, the wheat thing is interesting. Farmers give their animals whole wheat specifically to fatten them up, so how is wheat healthy for people?
You said you binged before, did you try other diets that didn't work.

There are two important things that you probably already know, but I'll remind you anyway.

1) Slow down when you eat and chew your food slowly!
http://www.wxix.com/Global/story.asp?S=10196476

-Quote-

The Benefits of Eating Slowly
-You consume less
-Improves the digestion process and prevents heartburn and indigestion
-Enhances the dining experience - you end up tasting your food more and enjoying the flavors and textures
-Allows the natural signals of fullness to register - so you don't eat too much (set aside at least 20 minutes for each meal as it takes about 20 minutes for your stomach to produce the hormones that tell your brain that you're full).

-Quote-

2) Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper!

Today's society is very different from just 100 years ago, when the size of our meals were opposite of what they are now. The article below give much more detail on the reasoning behind it and how it helps in the battle to lose weight. Just making these two changes can mean a lot of pounds lost!
http://www.weightlossforall.com/eating-time.htm

Good luck on your journey, and don't give up if you have setbacks or reach a stubborn plateau, I know you can do it!

The tips i am giving sounds easy but hard to implement, and you need to work hard to loose weight,, that is the bottom line,

1. Control on your taste buds
2. Regular excercise , jogging is the best and that too not on a tread mill in the open and in early morning.
3. for example if you are 30 years, to gain that extra fat in your body took so many years and loose so much of fat accumulated in your body, you will have to have patience and give yourself a one year plan if you are looking to loose 80-90 pounds, there are loads of people who has removed one person from there body :) and you can also do it.

Get a divorce. Just kidding.
Answer: No eating after 7pm. Eat Low carbs only throughout the day. Quit soda completely even diet cause it is all sodium. Keep foods on the protein side. Up the fiber also. Cut out alcohol as much as possible.

I once remember a friend of mine got a record deal and he had to lose weight to look like the rocker type . The management company put him on a diet which you can only eat what swims or fly's.so chicken turkey fish. Also no soda.
Wow when I saw him a few months later he looked like totally skinny like Rick Springfield.

Don't drink soda. Drink lots of water. Eat something light before bed this will make you less hungry when you wake up and keep you from overeating during breakfast.

The important thing to know is that 'start' something you can do. Do not go for any exotic programme. I have seen people getting good result through the following. No powder or starving. You woud love this.

1) Early morning for break fast 3 egg whites, two bread slices.
2) You have to arrange some biscuites, dry red grapes, some snacks and ensure that you eat something, say two biscuits, five grapes. every two hours. No hard rules. if you like to have a small snack instead of biscuit, go and have it. But no sweet is allowed.
3) Lunch - your regular stuff. but meat in small portion.
4) Tea/coffee - preferably only one, if you must two.
5) Ensure proper water intake.

This way you do not have to worry about your vitamins and other stuff. You are eating what you are regularly eating.

Try this. Should get results.
