Before you can apply for the loan, you must be accepted and enrolled at East Carolina University.

You will need to complete the FAFSA Financial Aid application and receive a FAFSA PIN.

The FAFSA PIN serves as your electronic signature on your FAFSA application and provides access to your personal information in various U.S. Department of Education systems.

I believe everyone who wants to apply for financial aid has to do it through the government website at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov .

As you can see from the above answers, you need to fill out a fafsa app. Now here is some advice. First, if your parents have finished their tax return ask them for a copy. Next, start the application online. Now save it. You will be asked for some info that will help you retrieve the app the next time you log on and you will get a chance to get a pin number. You need a pin number to file the app electronically. Now get one of your parents to log on with you and have them get a pin number. You both will need one. This way, you will be prepared to send it in right after you finish filling it out. It takes a few days to get the pin numbers for yourself and your parent because they send it through the mail. Once you have your pin number and your parents pin number, the rest is easy.

Here's some links from the East Carolina University site that should help.

http://www.ecu.edu/financial/

On the site it says "To apply for grants, loans, work-study and some scholarships you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA is used to determine your eligibility for federal, state and university aid programs. Even if you think you may not be eligible, we encourage you to apply"
