Well, the Real only came about in 1994, so whatever facts you get won't be that "historical," but you can check out Google Finance, which goes back to 2004 and shows a nice graph. Another really good website is X-Rates, which goes just about as far back as when the Real was made the currency of Brazil. The links are in the sources; I hope it helps!

I couldn't disagree more with the_unix_geek, this was a very helpful answer. As you can see, I even got three Best Answer votes. XE.com is an amazing site I at one point used daily for several months. It was always up to date and I was never disappointed. I'm sorry the_unix_geek didn't appreciate my brevity.
