would this be on the computer or on tv... ?

If on the computer I wouldnt pay much seeing as i got a 17" lcd which doesnt make nice for the eyes if the movie quality stinks and usually it does when the movies hit the net the first day the movie comes out... If it was like theater quality on my pc i would pay 2 or 3 dollars at most.

If this was something that was on my tv the same day then i think i would pay up to 20 dollars seeing as the whole family can watch and it wont be 10 dollars per ticket.. However movie theater experience is great so maybe i would not pay 20 for every movie that i could see same day it came out in theaters on my tv, i might pay like 10 and thats really over doing it for a movie i probably am not to interested in...

Mike !

10-15$ would be pretty reasonable. It's a bit more than a single ticket, but it saves the cost of driving to the theater, and is cheaper than paying for multiple tickets.

I would spend $5.00 at the most. I have following practical reasons for that;

i. It will be a pirated version anyway and hence will have poorer quality than the original prints.

ii. Seeing the movie at the theater is a totally different experience. It cannot be compared with anything else. It is just overwhelming.

iii. Seeing the movie on TV screen (be it plasma or otherwise) does not give as much satisfaction as it gives in a theater, except the fact that you can watch it with your family at the comfort of home.

Cheers!

For a pirated copy I'd not pay anything.

If it was legit I'd pay the price of the DVD release and turn in the prerelease copy for the real deal.

We have a pretty sweet home theater so seeing it with 100 strangers on a relatively larger screen doesn't matter to us.

Hi Silver! Thanks for your concern towards not promoting piracy. But the fact is you will hardly get an original copy on the day of release of a movie. Then, 90% of the copies available in the market are pirated and this is because people are buying them. This is the bitter truth. Finally, every average person/household does not have a home theater (Should I mention that it is very costly). My answer/solution was for the masses and not for exceptional cases. And above all, we all know that almost every other person sitting in the hall is a stranger, but that is the fun of watching a movie on a big screen. You ask any movie lover and he will agree. The hall roars with claps when there is a fabulous scene on the screen, just as it dives into pin-drop silence when the suspense is going on. That's the spirit.

I believe the question posted is framed as more of a theoretical release by the studio of the movie to theaters and to the home at the same time. Perhaps distribution via a set top box or even over the internet.

If it was movie that I wanted to see, I would pay the normal ticket price. I'm going to save a ton on the gas to get there as well as snacks and drinks. Not to mention babysitters on occasion.
