Edit: No, silly me. It is called "Quest" and it's a short 1983 film based on a Ray Bradbury story. Thank you IMDB!

Does anyone have any idea what this short film could have been? Very sci-fi, probably made around the 70's-80's?
I've tried to find this film before, but I've had no luck.
We watched in in senior English. I don't think it was a standard film. Probably made around the 70s or 80s. I THOUGHT it was called "quest", or something like that, but I couldn't find anything about it. I don't think it was a full length movie, likely 30-60 minutes.
The basic premise of the film was that there is a civilization, and they have this problem where time is moving way too fast. They have a lifespan of 7 days. To slow time down to it's normal pace, they basically have to make it to this other place and open a door. They pick a boy and they send him out on the second day of his life. On the way there it's like he goes through all these different world, there are monsters, sand, stars, space, everything. Half way there he passes the last guy they sent out. It's all very weird and distorted and someone was likely on drugs when they wrote it. The whole time the character is on this quest, he is getting old.
In the end he makes it and opens the door, and time slows down and it shows everyone's heartbeat slowing down, and it's a happy ending.
I know it sounds like I'm making this stuff up, but does anyone have ANY idea what this film could have been?

Check out "2001: A Space Odyssey" and see if that's the one. I'm not sure, to be honest, but I remember watching this movie and not understanding one little minute portion of it and thinking someone must have been on drugs when they wrote that movie, but it almost sounds the same because there is space involved and some kind of time problem and some weird thing going on with a man and then he's a baby or something like that. I haven't a clue, but it's worth a look see just in case.

Nope, thats not it :(
This was just one guy, and they weren't on a space ship. It was more like he was moving from one room to the next and a certain room would be space or... whatever.
Thanks for the attempt though!

Wow...
I've watched so many movies and taken film classes, yet I've never heard of this one.
I even looked on this site
http://www.magicdragon.com/UltimateSF/time.html
that covers all sci fi movies with related time travel or 'time' issues.
I wish you luck girlieq!
