Separate topics with commas, or by pressing return. Use the delete or backspace key to edit or remove existing topics.

You can leave an optional "tip" with Mahalo's virtual currency, Mahalo Dollars. If you are asking a difficult question that might require some research, or if you'd like a wide variety of feedback, a higher tip often leads to more answers to your question.

Pythagoras was a greek philosopher and mathematician. He was born on the island of Samos and lived in a greek colony in Italy. He is famous for his Pythagoran theorem which is - for a right angled triangle the square on the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares on the other two sides. He is also famous for the harmony of the spheres that the universe moved in harmony. He applied mathematical theory to music. His followers became kind of cult or sect. His writings do not survive directly. However he influenced later philosophers such as Plato. He is said to have been taken prisoner in Egypt and taken to Babylon where he learnt from the magi. He is said to have believed in reincarnation or transmigration of souls. There is a crater named after him on the moon. He has a famous speech in Ovid's Metamorphoses.
