Although you would burn a few more calories, it mostly from sweating more. The downside is that you'd be losing more salt from your body and get dehydrated quicker. It is also not as healthy for you. The best thing is to exercise in a place where the temperature is good for you and try to find an exercise you enjoy. Usually when people try to do things to burn more calories like exercise in the heat, they are plenty of more healthy options to try first.
My advice is stay in the air conditioning and feel good. You will burn more calories because you will want to keep exercising and not want to stop because you feel awful from the heat. The treadmill is a great way to walk and burn calories because you end up burning a lot of fat off the lovehandle area. You can also keep track of the calories much better. This comes from someone who loves to walk.
Best of luck with your walking and make sure to drink a lot of water!

3. Walking or jogging on natural surface will help to strengthen your joints and small muscle more than doing it on a smooth surface (a normal treadmill)
4. Going outdoor will give us a chance to be connected to the trees or flowers rather than staying indoor with the ice-cold steel or plastic gym equipments. It will not only improve your physical health but also your mental/emotional health
5. Go Green when you exercise
If you do have a choice, try not to choose a sport that will consume more power (air-conditioning, gym machines) than those which consume less.
Do remember to put on sunscreen if you are going to exercise outdoor between 10am to 4pm even it is on a cloudy day. Also, choose a safe neighbourhood you are familiar with if you are going to jog outdoor

Will I burn more calories by exercising outside in the heat?
I've been doing pretty well with my walking plan - but it's getting really, really hot outside (ah, summer in Alabama). I was wondering if I'll actually burn more calories sweating it out in the great outdoors - or can I stay inside my air conditioned home, walking on a treadmill? Any info is greatly appreciated!

Actually, all that sweating just comes from overheating and not from burning calories. It is not recommended to excercise in the heat because you risk dehydration. Also your blood pressure could drop rapidly and that is really bad. If it is hot you better go to the pool and swim.

Well outdoors vs indoors doesn't say much about the weather and the temperature.

Yes, you will burn more caloriesexercising outdoors in hot weather, however, it adds more stress to the heart and increase your chance of heat stroke/exhaustion. Remember to keep properly hydrated with water and possibly sports drinks to replenish calcium and potassium to ward off leg cramps and other problems. Exercising outdoors in hot weather should be done in moderation or by trained athletes.

Depending on the trail/pavement you pick, yes you will burn more calories. The trick is to keep properly hydrated though so pack water or gatorade.
