Where do you go to get your body fat measured?

I have set a new personal goal to get my body fat down to 8%, but I am not even sure what body fat percentage is now. What is the best place to go to get this kind of testing done? Weight loss clinic? Personal trainer?

I've got my body fat measured by a Kinesiologist. A personal trainer wouldn't be my first choice since they do not always have as much health-related background knowledge.

From wikipedia (so nobody doubts of their existance):
Kinesiologists working in the health promotion industry focus on working with individuals to enhance the health, fitness, and well-being of the individual. Kinesiologists can be found working in fitness facilities, personal training/corporate wellness facilities, and industry.

Asker's Rating:
• This is exactly what I needed. My gym doesn't offer the service, so this is why I needed an outside source.

Thanks for the help!

If you join a gym, you can speak with a personal trainer. They have equipment that measures body fat. Usually personal trainers can do this best. You may also go to a weight loss clinic, but mostly this is done by personal trainers. Good luck with the 8% goal! Hope this helps, vandal913!

The most accurate way to have your body fat percentage measured is in a hydrostatic weighing tank. These can often be found at Universities or major gyms/fitness centers. There are also devices that will allow you to measure your own body fat, such as the Accu-Measure body fat caliper. These have been shown to be accurate. They cost around $50.

Measure waist, hip and neck size and calculate this, yourself:

You can get it done for free at your fitness center too.

8%, are you trying to be a body builder?
