Next Question
I feel this is very important, and do it as regularly as I can fit into my schedule. I've recently also started riding my road bike long distances (up to 100 miles) as part of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program, raising funds to fight blood cancers (see full account at http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/2220001/getting_fit_while_raising_funds_to.html ). Riding 100 miles can burn upward of 8000 calories, which is much more than I ever burn working out in the gym. Most aerobic machines I work out on show a burn rate of 600 - 1200 calories, and if I work out for an hour or so 2-3 times per week, that really helps in terms of fitness, health, and perhaps even longevity (see e.g. http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1413619/what_are_mets_and_how_can_they_help.html for information on how working out can improve fitness and longevity).
