Yes and yes :)
Kitchener, Ontario is a well known community with a large German population. There is a very strong tradition of both a traditional Oktoberfest and a somewhat Americanized Oktoberfest.
I personally would not consider a local Oktoberfest complete without either my 2005 Munich Oktoberfest keg hat ... or my 2004 Munich Oktoberfest Rooster Head hat. At local events, I will also not accept a beer that is less than 1 liter nor allow the waitress to bring rounds of beer on a platter ;)

However, for slightly more traditional attire, it is difficult to forget Lederhosen, a red paid collared shirt, knee socks and slightly warn leather shoes.

I'd like to go to one now as an adult. I live in Maine and we are more about our french heritage and our acadian hertitage here, at least in my corner of the woods, if you will.

Is there an Oktoberfest celebration in your home town? Do you dress for it?
Many American and Canadian cities celebrate Oktoberfest as a heritage celebration. There are others worldwide as well. Does yours?

• I can say from long experience that it's even more fun when you are wearing lederhosen! (and the ladies enjoy wearing dirndls)

Yes, there is, but I've never been, and I'd like to go, but don't know how fun it would be for me, because I don't like beer.

ours does not :( though as a child, my stepfather was in the army and we moved about, when we were in Tennessee I remember vividly the parents taking us to an Oktoberfest. It was great, we watched the dancing, ate big pretzels with mustard and watched the adults drink beer lol I'd like to go to one now as an adult. In Alpine Helen, Georgia there is an Oktoberfest celebration every year. While I don't dress for it, I do drink for it. The servers in restaurants are always in costume as well as some of the visitors. A great time is had by all! Check out http://ngeorgia.com/ang/Oktoberfest_in_Helen,_Georgia.
