I am asuming you havent been to either of these places, otherwise you should rule out those places you've visited already to see something new. Now to my answer, the Scandinavian cities will be getting somewhat dark in fall (depends how late you go). Although I really love Helsinki and Stockholm because they are beautiful cities I wouldn't go there in fall. Madrid is also not on my top cities in Europe, I would rather suggest Barcelona if you're thinking Espana, or Marbella but thats more for the summer. This leaves me with Paris and Dublin, both interesting places and nice in fall, especially Paris. However Paris is so cliché, I would suggest you go to Dublin! Ireland is an amazingly beautiful country with very friendly people, more than I can say of the French (no disrespect to anyone).

Therefore, my humble tip: Dublin. Enjoy a Guinness and the lovely Irish accent ;-)
