I think the problem is we lack imagination and are short sighted
Because the problem is not right here under our noses and clear to see, the potential damage to our environment and planet by our current lifestyle is not real to most ordinary people
Unfortunately we are a race that is notoriuos for reacting rather than acting. We tend to lock the gate well after the horse has bolted

Why, won't people invest in this? They do not believe their is enough interest, and do not want to lose their money...
Then when cars that are great for the environment like this come on the scene Oil companies and corporations page top dollar to try to block the technology from coming into play... they may lose a lot but the oil company will not totally go out of business since people love their plastics!.... Even if you have beeswax plastic and soybean oil based plastic.. Not everyone is gonna want to use soybean oil to grease a railroad tracks like Norfolk Southern has.
It's about money fast quick available resources, unless the things are already on the market no one wants to invest or put the money into it until after its show it can preform as well or as great as their pollution counterparts. Those who do find it a long process and have the challenge of getting the investors to climb aboard and support them. I wanted to cite more sources but I have to share the computer.- DNatureofDTrain

Well, I would not say there is hardly any action. I do however know most of the time when the action is not being taken it is due to money costs to change everything. We have cars that run on air, Nasa has something on their space shuttled called a sterling engine they modified to make sound from electricity, as well as one to produce electricity from radioactive heat... Why, won't people invest in this? They do not believe their is enough interest, and do not want to lose their money...

Actually, there are several actions taken to protect the environment. Many of these are on a small scale basis though, such as individual, community, or group efforts. Therefore, they are not widely advertised. Many projects are shot down by politicians, those that aren't are often referred to as a waste by the general populace. However, I disagree. There was a special on CNN the other day about states using the stimulus package to help the environment by removing fish nets from the water that had been left there, killing and trapping a lot of life. The part that angered me was that so many people were outraged that tax dollars were being put to use here. Honestly, a lot of individuals really don't understand the ecological system and how to help the environment. Their lack of education seriously hurts efforts to do something but there are actions taken everyday, only if small. The best we can do is our own small part.
