Why all at once do I have NO fruits growing in my town for the last two days?

I finally got my town to an excellant rating by cutting down trees in some areas and planting them in other areas but now I have NO fruits growing for the last two days.

I had a quick Google around and this is what I've discovered.
You can shake trees with no fruit and something may fall out of them.
Others suggest if there's nothing growing, dig it up and plant again. Also, watering does nothing.
"Shake a tree with no fruit on it and you may get 100 bells"

i'm curious......what do you mean that you got your town an excellent rating by cutting down trees? what types of trees are we speaking of here? and........usually, if you disturb trees, they will distress and drop fruit. this goes for fruit and nut trees.
