They are capable of generating much energy so why not??? People seem to be against wind turbines because of aesthetics so why not place armies of tthem out of sight like in the oceans, mountains, prairies, etc.
Individual homeowners are beginning to build them for personal energy. Someday there may be one in every backyard! I think they will become very commonplace in time because they offer a clean solution to a dirty problem. Time will tell - that is if we have enough time left.....

I wonder, though, if we overbuilt wind turbines in areas where the wind blows most of the time, whether we might eventually reduce the wind to the point that we adversely affect the environment.
Suppose the wind from one area consistently blows the pollution away from a city. We could build a turbine farm that harnesses the power of that wind and reduce its force enough to reduce the pollution-reducing wind and make the air in the city much worse.
Granted, we are a long way from there, but I see it as a potential problem if we go overboard building the farms in certain locations.

I like wind power. It's free, and fairly efficient devices can be used to harness its motion. Windmills have been in use for centuries. I wonder, though, if we overbuilt wind turbines in areas where the wind blows most of the time, whether we might eventually reduce the wind to the point that we adversely affect the environment.
