Although they are endangered, the komodo dragon can be found in a bunch of zoos, it looks like. I started with what I thought was the most famous zoo, the San Diego Zoo, and they have komodos...also found the Saint Louis Zoo has an exhibit, the Honolulu Zoo has one, etc. I'd say check with your local big-city zoo and they may very well have some, as they seem to be popular animals to check out.
The news is not good, though, for the lizards' natural habitat: habitat destruction, humans hunting their prey and the cutting down of trees that provide essential shade for the komodos are all factors that have made the animals vanish from one of the few Indonesian islands they could be found on already.
As long as zoos keep their exhibits hot and tropical with plenty of shade, the komodos apparently fare well enough in captivity...
