The California Climate Action Registry was formed in 2001 by a few CEO's that while motivated by investment concerns within the non-profit community they turned out to make a way for businesses to accurately report their emissions and history of emitting greenhouse gasses. They are now looked upon as a leader or possibly the leader in bringing to light issues of climate change and how it effects business and government as well as helping meld the environmental organizations with business and government in a spirit of compatibility and cooperation.
