What's going on with www.mahalo.ning.com? Does anyone know of any community like place for Mahalo users to share ideas and network?

Are there any off Mahalo places for people to have discussions, get to know each other, share ideas, and help each other out? Forums, chat rooms, and blogs are the things I am looking for.I am curious because I don't think Mahalo's tools are sufficient for us to communicate effectively.

There's always the Mahalo IRC room, irc.freenode.net #mahalo. It can be easily accessed through Freenode's website, if you don't have an IRC client. I wish more members would hang around in there, but it's mostly filled with Mahalo employees currently.

This is very typical of new things on the net. A new social thing appears and everyone jumps in to try it out. After a little while, interest drops off, and the site gets abandoned. Looks like the same for the Mahalo page at Ning.

I just came across Ning the other day and I like what they offer. But if you are active on your own website, Ning won't do much for you. But lacking any other social features of your own, Ning seems to be a wonderful place to start a network.

Ning makes a great starting out place and offers a great toolset of features for people who don't want to build a social site, but just want to use it.

I would understand that early in Mahalo development, the Ning site offered some value to getting the word out and providing social features that were not ready on the Mahalo site itself.

I wish that sites like these would self-delete, when they are abandoned. Looks like Mahalo would rather you use the IRC channel, contact at mahalo email, or post a question to the Mahalo Answers community with on the site. I too was looking for user community forums, as it would save Mahalo staff a ton of time for users to help each other or at least read answers already given. I can't believe they don't have a FAQ that is updated with all the questions they get.
